Jaroslaw Porebski - "Yaric" - Wrought Ironwork Yorkshire
At 16 years old I began in earnest my wrought iron apprenticeship with my uncle in my home town of Slupiec in Poland.
After several years spent mastering the basics of this very traditional, labour intensive trade, and completing straightforward, standard commissions, I began to realise that I could translate more creative ideas into functional wrought iron pieces, making them unique and easthetically pleasing. My work acknowledges the influences of many sources, including great artists, furniture makers, artistic movements, and, increasingly, customers'own ideas.
My passion for creating more individual wrought ironwork has been appreciated by commercial and domestic customers in Poland, Austria, Germany and now England, where I have made a home for myself and my family in Otley, West Yorkshire.
New challenges in both the creative and manufacturing processes associated with wrought ironwork drive me constantly to achieve new goals- for instance, combining different materials with wrought iron- glass, brass, wood- and I have forged alliances with other craftsmen to allow me to create one- off pieces incorporating these.
I thoroughly welcome customers who desire a piece of unique wrought iron art, whether they want my own bespoke design, or to collaborate with me in a fusion of ideas, so that together we can create individual and beautiful wrought ironwork.
I take complete ownership of all projects and work on my own from my workshop in Otley, West Yorkshire. Clients are able to see the project in progress once initial designs and costs are agreed- visits need to be arranged in advance as the nature of wrought ironwork demands a respect for safety!
